Maturing In Christ!

Hebrews 6:1-8

I. Leaving the basic principles for deeper teachings. (Hebrews 6:1)

A. VS 1 – The basic teachings must be our foundation to build on.

B. VS 1 – We must continue to build on to our understanding.

II. Leaving behind our former understanding. (Hebrews 6:1-2)

A. VS 1 – Repentance from dead works.

B. VS 1 – Faith toward God.

C. VS 2 – Instruction about washing.

Hebrews 9:10 – “They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings—external regulations applying until the time of the new order.”

D. VS 2 – Laying on of hands.

E. VS 2 – Resurrection of the dead.

F. VS 2 – Eternal judgment.

Matthew 7:21-23 – “Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ²²Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' ²³Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'”

III. Leaving our rejection for God’s blessing. (Hebrews 6:3-8)

1. VS 3 – It is God’s will that brings us to Him.

Numbers 24:3

2. VS 4-6 – Our knowledge of God needs to bring us to a relationship.

3. VS 7-8 – Our relationship needs to bring forth fruit.
