God's Plan for Sharing

GPS = God's Plan for Sharing

You may have heard it said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Green Ridge has an exciting opportunity in 2010 of taking a giant step toward reaching the Roanoke Valley with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has set a goal of every believer sharing and every person hearing by the year 2020. They have developed a 10-year initiative to share the gospel with every person in North America—God’s Plan for Sharing” (GPS). This journey is guided by a process with four biblical markers:
Key GPS Dates:

March 15
Prayerwalk (6:30 PM)
March 27
Door-to-Door
Distribution (10 AM)
April 4
EASTER SUNDAY
  • Praying—every church praying for lost people
  • Engaging—every believer sharing as a trained witness
  • Sowing—every lost person receiving a witness
  • Harvesting—every church harvesting and celebrating every salvation result

The first step on this journey is called “Across North America.” This is the first of 6 major campaigns that will help believers engage every people group in North America. It provides a framework in these beginning days for gospel distribution, and a consistent theme that our church can work from. It is an initiative to share Christ through prayerwalking, gospel distribution, and an invitation from our church for an evangelistic Easter worship service on Sunday, April 4, 2010, concluded by five weeks of follow-up connection with those who responded to our invitation. The North American Mission Board (NAMB) will assist our church in accomplishing this goal by providing materials, resources, and a media campaign.

Campaigns are only as effective as the hearts behind them. Billboards and television commercials are nice, but ultimately it’s believers with a heart for the lost, and an unprecedented move of God’s Spirit that will bring us to our destination. The goal is to see our lost neighbors, co-workers, family members, and maybe even ourselves transformed. Start preparing now for the journey!
